Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Already this legislative session, 1,741 bills have been introduced in the Senate and the House. Along with discussing and debating those bills, we are reviewing different aspects of the governor's proposed $54.4 billion operating budget for 2019-20.
This new proposal represents a more than 22 percent increase over the current operating budget. In order to balance this massive spending plan, the governor is asking taxpayers to contribute an additional $9 billion over the next four years.
That's a lot of money. I believe we can do better. We need to determine our priorities and write a budget that addresses those needs, while still living within our state's very ample means. That's why we need to hear from you!
You are invited to our upcoming telephone town hall!
Please consider joining Rep. Gina Mosbrucker, R-Goldendale, and I for our upcoming telephone town hall. During the hour-long event, we will discuss several of the key public policy bills currently being considered in Olympia.
Here's how you can participate:
The telephone town hall meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Many 14th District residents will receive an invitation by phone just before the call begins. Those wishing to call-in simply need to dial (509) 404-3052.
Telephone town halls are much like a radio call-in program. To ask a question, callers can press the STAR * key on their telephone keypads. When your turn comes up, you will be “live” and can ask us any of your questions.
This is a great way for us to listen to your concerns and answer any questions you may have about events at the state Capitol! As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to give me a call. My contact information is listed below.
Thank you for allowing me to represent you in Olympia!
