Rep. Chris Corry sponsors Goldendale High School student as House page

Goldendale High School student, Annabelle West, recently traveled to Olympia to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by 14th Legislative District Rep. Chris Corry.

“I was glad to sponsor Annabelle as a House page. She did a fantastic job for our office,” said Corry, R-Yakima. “I hope her experience in Olympia has given her a better understanding of the positive affect civically minded individuals can have local and state government.”

In her spare time, Annabelle, a Goldendale resident, plays the piano, enjoys writing and spending time with her friends. The 15-year-old is the daughter of James and Toni West.

As part of her page duties, Annabelle learned to navigate the many buildings on the Capitol campus while delivering messages and documents to legislators and staff. She also attended page school every day to understand the inner workings of the Legislature.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program go to leg.wa.gov/House/Pages/HousePageProgram.aspx.
