Rep. Chris Corry selected by House Republicans to serve as assistant floor leader

After a virtual meeting and vote by his colleagues, Rep. Chris Corry will be serving as assistant floor leader for the state House Republican Caucus in the upcoming 2021 session.

“I'm honored to have been selected by my peers for this position,” said Corry, R-Yakima. “When I decided to serve in the Legislature, I did so because I wanted to make a difference in my community. I look forward to helping lead our caucus as we tackle the tough challenges facing our state in the months and years ahead.”

This is Corry's first election to a caucus leadership position. In his role as assistant floor leader, his responsibilities include organizing and managing debate on the House floor, developing legislative strategy and policy, and assisting caucus leadership in negotiations with the majority party.

The 2021 legislative session is scheduled to begin on Monday, Jan. 11.
