Rep. Chris Corry named ranking member on House Appropriations Committee

Rep. Chris Corry, R-Yakima, has been appointed as the top Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, where he has served as assistant ranking member since 2021.

An important fiscal committee, the House Appropriations Committee considers the operating budget bill and related legislation; budget processes; and fiscal issues such as pension policy and compensation. The committee also considers bills with operating budget fiscal impacts..

“I am excited for the opportunity to represent my fellow Republicans on this important budget committee and to advocate for our vision of a fiscally responsible state budget that includes tax relief for the people of Washington state,” said Corry. “I look forward to getting to work on that in the months ahead in a bipartisan way that considers all of the people of Washington state.”

In addition to his new role as ranking member on the House Appropriations Committee, Corry continues to serve as the assistant house floor leader.

As assistant floor leader, Corry's responsibilities include organizing and managing debate on the House floor, developing legislative strategy and policy, and assisting caucus leadership in negotiations with the majority party.

Corry also serves on the House Consumer Protection and Business Committee ,which considers: consumer protection issues, including licensing and regulating businesses and professions; the insurance industry; financial services issues, including the safety and soundness of state banks and credit unions; and the regulation of consumer credit and lending.
